Grand Prix de Pau Historique 2013

For INRacing mid May brought with it the splendour of the street circuit of Pau for the Grand Prix de Pau Historique 2013. The Lotus 18 of Stephen Bond returned to a street circuit for the second time since its historic win at the hands of Sir Stirling Moss in 1961. Stephen was even reunited with an original Motorsport magazine that featured the ’61 Monaco race report.

The Lotus 18 finished 3rd in Class in both the Saturday and Sunday races for HGPCA Pre 66 Grand Prix cars. The weekend was rather more eventful for William Nuthall in Giorgio Marchi’s Cooper T53, who missed a large section of the free practice due to being burnt while sitting in fuel from a loose union.  He managed to put in a stunning last minute qualifying lap to line up on the front row of the grid.  After leading the first few laps and touch of wheels dropped the T53 down to 4th where it finished. The second race saw William patiently wait for his opportunities to move up into 2nd before a broken exhaust caused his retirement.

A couple of unfortunate incidents in the Pre 61 HGPCA race saw INRacing bringing home a Maserati 250F and Gordini which we hope to have back on track in time for Dijon and Brands Hatch respectively.
