Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix 2013

A trip to the Eifel mountains for the Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix 2013 saw Nick Eden driving the Cooper Bristol Mk1 with renewed vigor leading the class by 3 seconds after qualifying leaving perpetual class winner Paul Grant and Ian Nuthall’s Cooper Bristols in his wake.  This dominance continued in race 1 with Eden having a 30 second lead over his nearest challenger at the chequered flag and a he came within a lap of repeating this success the following day before an engine gremlin stopped him out on track.  This left Grant to close out the class victory with Nuthall following him home 3rd in class in Mary Grant’s Cooper Bristol.

Bob Gerard Memorial Trophy

Mallory Park again hosted the Vintage Sports Car Club’s Bob Gerard Memorial Trophy, Steve Russell racing the iconic mans Cooper Bristol. Steve’s car was joined by the Mk1 Cooper Bristol of Nick Eden and the similar Mk2 driven by William Nuthall.
A damp VSCC and typically oil strewn qualifying caused tricky conditions which left Nuthall to the fore. After a good start he didn’t look back in Mary Grants kindly loaned Cooper to repeat his first victory in the event in 2011. Russell and Eden had some good battles, with a misfire ultimately dropping Eden back down the field.
